As the last rays of Saturday’s gorgeous sunny afternoon in
London faded, we dropped by a secret screening of the new collection for online
boutique Frou Frou Boudoir.
☆
After exiting our cab in an area ringed by concrete freeway
flyovers, I succumbed to a moment of confusion, however quickly recovered as,
beyond an unmarked door, a red-carpeted catwalk, champagne and cupcakes awaited...
Following a quick trip to the bar and a chat with the
charming Sidonie Sandrine (fashion stylist and creator of Frou Frou Boudoir),
we took our seats just as the show started…
Comprising of five visually distinct “moments”, the show began
with pastel baby blues and candy creams: a series of embroidered
silk nightslips. The second scene swimwear, was eclectic featuring lots of
retro inspiration in the prints and the shapes (loved
the high waist floral bikini!).
It was however, the lovely 20s-inspired
collection in the third scene that was my favourite. A beautiful nude mesh bra
with geometric embroidery, with matching high waist sheer and solid panelled
embroidered knickers had me swooning.
Next,a short babydoll night slip with
nude mesh panels and black binding, was also a head-turner. And no wonder, in a
post-industrial factory building, it was somehow fitting that the decorative
expression of the machine age, art deco proved the highlight of the day.
